D2 Itinerary

Zhijiayang Dashan
Piaodan Hut sits right next to the Zhijiayang Dashan Triangulation Point and Zhijiayang Dashan Summit — the triangulation point is less than 30 minutes away one way. The views from the triangulation point are great, looking down at Piaodan Hut set on the broad meadow; even the restroom next to it has such a nice design that it's worth a photo.

After leaving the Zhijiayang Dashan Triangulation Point, continue climbing northwest for about 370 meters to reach the Zhijiayang Dashan Summit. It has more tree cover and the views aren't as good as the triangulation point, but since it's not far and the path is clear, it's still worth the walk. Afterward, retrace your steps back to Piaodan Hut, pack up, and start the descent.

The climb up Zhijiayang is steep with several roped sections, and since it drizzled the night before, the rocks and roots on the descent the next day are very slippery — don't skimp on your trekking poles or grabbing branches and plants for extra grip, and stay focused through the terrain. Once you're back down at the 3.1K Campsite, you can soak your feet in Sijielan Creek nearby or freshen up with a towel before heading back along the forest road.

There's a trail sign at the junction at Waypoint 32 — remember to turn left here back into the farm; about a kilometer past the junction, you'll be back at Xima Farm.

The farm has a restroom, a sink, and trash cans, and there's a very cute black dog that will walk you back to the orchard — feel free to say hi if you meet it!
