D5 Itinerary
Today's climb reaches Barafu Camp, the campsite closest to the summit. After five days of climbing, we've now entered the alpine desert zone — even on a windless day, staying out of the sun feels cold, so keep your body and head properly insulated.

Because Barafu Camp is the closest campsite to the summit and where all the routes converge, it has noticeably more waste than other camps — be sure to wear camp shoes that properly cover your feet.
Since the summit push starts around 00:00 the next morning, eat and turn in early tonight. Eating too late can leave you sleeping poorly or under-rested. Even if you can't sleep, try to calm your mind and get the most rest you can — because what comes next is the longest day on the entire mountain.
