Baishi Mountain
Leaving Baishi Pond, another 2.4K brings you to Baishi Mountain; since it's an easy tag along the way, there's nothing special to watch for. The main thing on the Nenggao section is that the arrow bamboo is both tall and dense — while walking through it, look down: if the base of the bamboo isn't parted, or it's growing against your direction of travel, that's almost always a sign you've gone the wrong way. Pay close attention to trail ribbons and the path before moving forward, and you'll save a lot of energy from bouncing back and forth against the bamboo.
Coming down from the Baishi Mountain Triangulation Point, another 1K brings you to Wanli Pond. Even though the weather on my trip was poor, I could still tell how beautiful Wanli Pond must be in good weather. If time allows, I'd suggest resting a while here to enjoy its natural beauty. There's more than one running-water spot near Wanli Pond — just listen for the sound of water and you'll find them.
Leaving Wanli Pond, about 1.8K brings you to Tunlu Pond Campground — don't rush to draw water here; keep going to Waypoint 61, where there's a running water source in a flat, grassy meadow, a good spot to sort out gear and recover some energy. Past this, you enter the forest road; the next waypoint, 62, also has running water, but the ground is small and damp, not convenient for a group to set down packs and rest. From Waypoint 62, another 700m or so brings you to the Andongjun Junction; although the sign at the junction mentions the wind-sheltered Bamboo Grove Campground 20 minutes down, but it's small and inconvenient for water, so I'd suggest just finding a sheltered spot near the pond at the Andongjun Junction to camp.
Andongjun Mountain
After setting up a simple camp, I switched to a summit pack and headed for Andongjun Mountain. It's 1.2K one way; although there are false peaks to go up and down, the total climb from the campsite is under 250m, not too difficult. Since the summit has great views, hikers could also save Andongjun Mountain for a pre-dawn climb to catch the sunrise the next day.
