D1 Itinerary
From the trailhead up to Xiao Qilai at 1.4K, the view is wide open with no cover and the scenery is beautiful. It takes less than a minute from the junction to climb up to Xiao Qilai, so it's well worth the quick detour for photos.
After leaving Xiao Qilai, you descend 400 meters to Heishuitang Hut at 3.7K, where you can take a short break — because next you'll climb 150 meters to check in at Chenggong Cabin, 1.1K further. There are big stone tables and benches in front of Chenggong Cabin for resting and chatting, lush green scenery all around, running water available anytime nearby, and a restroom not far off. Even if you're not staying here, it's worth pausing to enjoy the mountain forest.
