This route has not been walked, so there are no measured segment times on this page: the times are transcribed verbatim from Sunriver Culture's step-time diagrams and are a shared yardstick, not my pace. Every station's position and name was checked one by one and follows Sunriver's naming, so names and elevations match what hikers recognise.Route is for reference only.This route has not been walked yet. Six days, two of Taiwan's hundred peaks (Bulakesangshan, Xinkangshan), 78 km; the line is computed by BRouter over OpenStreetMap's hiking network. Nine things to note:
- The Xiangyang approach has been walked. Day one's trailhead, Xiangyang Hut, Famous Trees and Collapse Cliff reuse the coordinates from my own November 2025 South Section 2 trip -- same point, same name, same elevation. Xinkang and South Section 2 share this entrance, and Yushan National Park registers only Xiangyang as the start.
- The shape of the line has been checked against two public recorded walks (Hikingbook, August 2021 with 29 named waypoints, and December 2025; both are the six-day Xiangyang-in, Walami-out line): median deviation 11 to 17 metres, nine points in ten within 27 to 52 metres, 102 and 191 at worst. All 23 stations fall within 36 metres of at least one of those tracks. This is checking the answer, not sourcing it, and their elevations are not adopted.
- Day one's line carries two routing anchors. They are not places to stop; they exist to pin BRouter onto the trail I actually walked. Without them the routing swings east after the trailhead and back, up to 429 metres off my own track; with them, nine points in ten tighten from 244 metres to 55. That is what a computed line means in practice -- the network offers more than one way through, and the router does not know which one people use.
- The Tiangong Fortress is not drawn. It is a rock tower 25 minutes beyond Xinkangshan, and Hiking Biji's route page and some records do take it in. Neither of the two recorded walks we hold went there (203 metres from the nearer track), and a planned line has to have been checked against somebody's actual walk -- so that spur is neither drawn nor listed.
- The standard route skips Xiangyangshan and Sanchashan. Both are among the hundred peaks and both sit 25 minutes off the line, but every record found, and the route page, walk straight past. This site follows the records, so the trip bags Xinkangshan and Bulakesangshan.
- Day two is the hardest of the trip: 23.9 km and 13 hours 13 minutes by the guidebook, including Bulakesangshan out and back with packs left at camp (about five hours round trip). The 2021 party took 11 hours 53.
- Bulakesangshan's height is two votes against two. OpenStreetMap and Sunriver's G18 chart both say 3021 m; the English and Japanese Wikipedia hundred-peaks tables both say 3026. The site uses 3021 and records the disagreement in the station's elevation source rather than quietly picking one (CLAUDE.md 1: record the disagreement, do not erase it).
- There are two aircraft wrecks. OpenStreetMap carries two nodes of that name 570 metres apart, and records write of wreck 1 and wreck 2. This route draws the eastern one, which is where the 2021 record put its waypoint.
- There is no guide's itinerary. The six-day split comes from Hiking Biji's route page and was confirmed day by day against the complete 2021 recorded walk -- every overnight matches. Sunriver's G18 segments sum to 50 hours 30 minutes. On the ground, follow the actual conditions and your guide; once it has been walked, this page will be replaced by my own recorded track.
